Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Go Daddy Backorder Service

Go Daddy Backorder Service

Have you ever used GoDaddy's domain name backorder service?

I did for the first time a few months ago.

I often register the silly phrases that flutter through my mind as domain names, you never know when you might want to build a web site.  Anyway, the domain name I wanted to register that day was taken,

I thought why not click the backorder link?

And I'll be darned, I received an email the other day that the prior owner of that particular name did not renew and now it was all mine.  :-)

@Maureen ... There's probably a name for the malady....  Domain Hoarding ... maybe?  It can get a little pricey  :-)

Great idea I'm sure most people never even think to do that. Thanks for the heads up.

I had wondered about this and now I know the answer and I am going to take advantage of my new knowledge, thanks to you. I was thinking that it might be waste of time and now  think it makes sense to at least try. Good post and thanks for sharing your experience.

Cheryl - thanks for the details. Sometimes even the best domains slip back into availablity because someone forgot to renew.
