Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Google Wave: How to Ping someone

Google Wave: How to Ping someone

First, the person must be in your Contacts list.

If they are not in your contact list, follow the steps here to add them.

Then find the person's little avatar in your contact list, and double click on it.

A little popup message will appear, click on Ping (the person's name)

Type a message and click done

The ping will show up at the top of the person's Google Wave Inbox

Note to Google Wave engineers:  It would be really super if a notification of a ping would also show up in the person's regular email box.   Thanks!!!

Cheryl, what is the purpose behind a ping?  Just a fun thing to do?

Debbie,  I think most often, you would ping someone to tell them you want them to join a wave you started, or you want to join one of their waves..... You don't need to have a wave open to ping someone, so you could also be saying you ~want~ to start a wave with them.

Example:  An educator posted a tweet on twitter earlier this AM about a wave he started to discuss using wave in the classroom.  His tweet said to ping him at xxx@googlewave . com and he'd add you to the wave...
