Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: How To Tag Waves In Google Wave

How To Tag Waves In Google Wave

I've been waving now for almost a month.  And just now, today, this morning, I learned how to TAG WAVES.

Open the wave you want to tag.  Keep in mind that wave so created as a collaboration tool; so you don't need to be the person who created the wave, in order to add tags to the wave.

Look down at the bottom of the screen in the footer area.  In the footer area of the wave column, you'll see a button labelled "Tag".  Click the Tag button.

A small dialog box will open.  Type in your tag keywords and hit enter

The keyword tags will show up the the wave column footer, and will be searchable in a wave tag search.

What is a wave tag search?

Type a search into the wave search box using this format:

with:public tag:real estate

No space between "with:" and "public";  no space between "tag:" and "real estate"; or whatever keyword you want to search on.  Click the search icon at the right .

Isn't it exciting that it is ever changing...sooo much to learn. Do you have to be invited???

Yes, you have to be invited ... Although you can go the Good Old Capitialist Route, and buy an invitation on eBay.  (Choose one with an immediate activiation link, if you do go eBay)

Since I Remarkably!!! received just enough invites to get the office people set up, I am focusing on my goal of using wave as the communication tool for the entire office.

just saw the tag function right before reading this.  Now I am trying to figure out the public vs private functionality...  Active Rain actually has more great write ups on Googlewave than anyone else:)  That is because we rock!  You rock, especially!

Phil,

Google abandoned Wave.  I still think it was a great tool for a small group of people to work together on a project ... but the world seemed to think it was another social media network, and so it fizzled away.  Too bad.
