Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Find people to add to your Google Wave contact list

Find people to add to your Google Wave contact list

In order to add someone as a contact in Google Wave, you must first know their wave address.  There are two ways to find out someone's wave address:

1.  Ask them :-)

2.  Find them in a public wave, and click on their icon.

Try this:  Search for public waves containing the keyword "activerain".  Up in the search box type with:public activerain then click the search icon.

Click on the Wave titled ActiveRain Real Estate Network, to open the contents of the wave in the right panel.

Now look up at the icons of the wave participants at the top of the right panel.  Click on the words, 5 more (or 10 more, or however many more) to see everyone's icon.

See anyone you know that you would like to add to your contact list?  Click on their icon to see a mini-profile that includes the person's google wave address.

Now look down at your Contacts list in the left panel.  Click on the plus sign to add a contact.

Copy and paste in the Google Wave address of your newly found friend.  Click Submit.

Tip:  Add your own Google Wave address to your contact list.  Then you can add yourself as a participant in public waves when you feel so inclined.

Here's a previous post about adding contacts:  http://activerain.com/blogsview/1324924/google-wave-step-one-is-add-some-contacts

Thanks for this. I have 11 invitations left.

I put it on Facebook the other night. Some folks asked for one but didn't send their email address.

I had not been on in a few weeks and was looking for how to add Monika and Linda.

This is great, I'm off to find my fellow rainers.

I have used the wave but so far only with 2 clients. Very cool features!

BTW: They had to show me some of the tricks :)

Merry Christmas from your friend in Charlottesville!

I don't expect Wave to be a lead generator, except by happy accident maybe, but I plan to make use of Wave for interoffice communication.  I am hoping to conduct virtual office meetings via wave starting next month.

Geez!  I have no idea what you are talking about.  Now google has waves??  I just wish they would get their calendar to sync up with our phones - this would be useful technology to me.  I'm glad your post is helping the more technologically savvy rainers out there.

Thanks for this thread. Question ? Do you or will you replace your email program with Wave? Or will you only use it when interested in collaborating?

Thanks again for your very informative Posts.

Wave is great when you have waves with a ton of people. It's also really useful when working with coworkers on documents as well.

This sounds like a great way to communicate in addition to cellphones and instant messaging..

I'll have to check out some public waves...  I am LaneInLilburn.  And I have about 18 invites for the Wave right now...

Posted by Lane Bailey - REALTOR & Car Guy (Century 21 Results Realty) over 2 years ago

@Lane, It's funny to think about how just a couple of months ago, people were desparate for invitations.  Now invitations are readily available, and people are offering to give them away to any stranger who asks.  :-)
