You know how you sometimes have a really large PDF file, and you need to send it to someone by email, but that person's email provider has a limit on file sizes?
One of our associates suggested using Windows Live SkyDrive as a large file sharing solution, and I'm finding that was a very good idea.
To give SkyDrive a try, go to http://home.live.com/ and sign up for Windows Live
After you sign up, you can find SkyDrive on the dropdown menu under "More"

Or you can go directly to http://skydrive.live.com
Click Create folder

Name the folder, and list the people who will have access to the folder, click next

Browse for, and add the files you wish to share, click Upload.

Click "Let people know".

Type a message for the people who will have access to the file. Click Send.

The recipients will receive an email notice to view the file. The email notice looks like this.

To view the file, the recipient first clicks on the file icon

Then the recipient clicks Download to open the file

Notice the Comment area. People can ask and answer questions, and have a discussion of the file contents within SkyDrive.
Windows Live SkyDrive is a free service.

Hi Cheryl - I don't use Live but this is a great reason to use it. I've also joined the e-Pro group which I was not previously aware existed.
Cheryl,
I have been meaning to sign up for SkyDrive. Your tutorial helps. Thanks!
Great tutorial Cheryl!
You've explained this perfectly!
I'm heading on over to SkyDrive right now!
Cheryl,
Read this at the same time was talking with a general Contractor. I sent him a link as well. Thanks.
Cheryl,
Now that I have played with this a little I have made some observations. First it does not appear to have a function that allows me to tell if a Party that I want to see the file has actually done so unless they leave a comment.
Second when I use it I am not provided a " Let People Know " message as you show on your screen shot above. Perhaps it is because of the second file I added.
Program is not all that user friendly. Will get the job done but makes you work for it a little bit rather than lead you step by step to completion.
Your tutorials with pictures are so great and helpful. If you own a MAC you have this feature plus on MobileMe, an in the cloud computer integration and flile sharing feature - easy as pie. Google Docs also allows you to do the same. I didn't know Live offered this and now I do. Thanks.
