Yesterday, at a dinner party, I spilled some red wine on a pale pink shirt. In an effort to rinse out the wine before it set into a permanent stain, I made a bigger mess.
My friend and hostess, Pat, pulled an orange tee shirt out of a drawer to save the day.
When I returned to the table, several guests commented on what a great color! And funny, there is not a single orange thing in my closet, except now for my new-found orange tee shirt.

This morning, I went browsing through several women's apparel web sites, and find that not a lot of items are offered in orange. There's some melon, and mango, and peach, and coral here and there. But bright, in-your-face ORANGE does not seem to be real common. Interesting.
Looking at some color therapy web sites, I am told that orange is a color of joy and wisdom. Well, shoot, I think the world needs more orange.... and I am going to do my part.
P.S. The pink shirt will probably get dyed LAKERS PURPLE. I wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Cheryl, what a great story and how something small can change our perspective! Orange is a wonderful warm and vibrant color - wear it in good health! Did you give Pat back the t-shirt? :-) Susan
Cheryl,
Good luck on your quest for orange apparel!
Best regards,
Cheryl, did you even imagine that breaking bread with friends and spilling some wine would result in a new "look" for you... You know what they say ... " there are no accidents " ;-)
Nice post...and a very thoughtful friend! I agree about the colour orange, by the way!
I steer clear of it and use it as a joke with my clients. Anytime I'm asked about edge-of-the-line ethic dilemmas I usually respond that "I don't look good in orange or in jumpsuits". :-0
You have to be in Tennessee to really appreciate (or for some to really hate) that bright in your face orange.
BTW, great NBA Finals.
Are you just bragging about the Lakers win or what? All joking aside, it is funny how color can change how we look...isn't it?
