Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Anyone Using FeedBlitz? Any Feedback on FeedBlitz?

Anyone Using FeedBlitz? Any Feedback on FeedBlitz?

We have maintained an email subscription "hotsheet" since about 1996, to announce new listings, price reductions, etc.   There are a few hundred people on the subcriber list.

We also have a "hotsheet" blog http://www.taylorhotsheet.com for the same purpose.

I've been thinking of of using FeedBlitz to automate the process.  If I understand correctly FeedBlitz will turn each new blog post into an automatic email sent to the subscriber list.

Yes, we could tell people just to subcribe to the RSS feed.  But I think, out there in the real world <s>, most ordinary folks are more comfortable and familiar with email.

Anyone else out there using FeedBlitz?  Any comments, feedback on it?

Interesting, I have just heard about this for the first time today by you. Sounds great actually and might be helpful and useful. Thanks, wish I could say I have used it.

Cheryl,

I use Feedblitz on my other blog at http://blog.ctrelocation.com and also another blog I have with typepad.  I like it a lot AND I sign up on lots of people's blogs who use it.  I personally prefer to receive an email than use a reader.

P.S.  I rarely add a link in a comment but thought it was appropriate in this instance.

Linda:  Thank you for posting the link!  I just went to your ctrelocation blog and signed up, to see what the FeedBlitz service looks like to a user.

Carole:  And I'm learning alot about Feng Shui from your posts!

I have no constructive comments except to say - thanks for sharing this great idea and the feedblitz resource.  I've clicked on the links and will be going to check it all out in just a minute.

Cheryl - I don't know anything about feedblitz but I think it is a fantastic idea.  I really think that the average person either does not know what an RSS feed is or would not think to do it.  I love this idea.  Let us know how it goes.

I have been using Feedblitz on several blogs for just over a year now. It is a simple way to syndicate your posts and it is free. My other blogs are all on Typepad, but it will work with any blogging platform, including Active Rain.

Cheryl, great idea...test it on Linda's blog.  I never used it either.  Chris Griffith just did one with Bravenet that I am going to check out too.

Cheryl, thanks!  I'll have to check it out.  I'm another that prefers email to a reader.

Cheryl-

I know that if you don't know about it then the rest of us don't know either.  You seem to stay ahead of the curve...I'll have to check this one out.

For anyone following this thread, I just added the FeedBlitz subscription widget to this blog.

Tracy:  Thank you.  (It's a blind curve, ya know. <s>)

Cheryl, I checked it out but had difficulty seeing how it would be helpful to my business.  It was a bit confusing.santol

Eva ...

FeedBlitz basically turns your blog into an email newsletter.

Here's where it will work for me.  One of our company blogs is a "Hotsheet" blog.  It has nothing except new listings, price reductions, open houses and market stats.  We also have an email subscription service (hosted by Listbox) that distributes esstentially the same information to a group of opted-in subscribers.

Eventually, I will move the email subscriber list to FeedBlitz, and discontinue Listbox.   Then instead of placing info on the hotsheet blog AND emailing it to the subscribers, the info will only have to be entered once -- on the blog.  And both blog readers, AND email list subscribers will have access to it.

So I save the time by not having to do one job twice, and if I stay with the free FeedBlitz service, I will save a big $8.00 per month in discontinuing Listbox.  But the money will probably end up a wash - since I will probably eventually go with the paid FeedBlitz service.

That help make it clearer?  <s>

I receive a blog update from one of my national trainers and he uses feedblitz and I really like it...it notifies me when there is an update and I can go check it out when I have time...considering it myself.
