Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Friday Classics: Goodbye Marie

Friday Classics: Goodbye Marie

This song, a hit on country charts for Bobby Goldsboro in 1982, may not have a lot of redeeming social virtue.  But I do have a fond memory of driving down the Long Beach freeway in my red 77 Ford Pinto with Goodbye Marie on the radio; me singing along, young (younger, anyway) penniless, and carefree.

Warning:  This is Country style stuff....

Cheryl, thanks for the memory!  I wish that I was able to say that I was too young to remember this song, but I would be an awful liar if I tried!  I also remember being raised in a small farming community where we had both kinds of music: Country and Western!  Just kidding, thanks again.

Yup! Podner! This is country stuff! The cowboy hat is a dead give-away! I remember the song as well. Quite some time ago.

Cheryl, You got me with this one, I never heard it before... is that Goldsboro in the video doesn't look like him?

Cheryl.... Nothin' wrong with a little country... Never heard this before myself but on long road trips when the wife & kids doze off I often let some country tunes play to change it up a bit...

The memory that this blog brought back to me was of the Ford Pinto.  Remember all the warnings that they'd catch fire if hit in the rear end.  I always BEGGED and WARNED my kids that if they got in a Pinto to never ride in the back seat!  It was a real fear that I had.
