Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Enlarge Your WordPress Post Box

Enlarge Your WordPress Post Box

Here's one of those little things that I didn't notice until recently.

When you compost a blog post, would you like the size of the post-editor-box to be a bit larger?

I often do, especially if I have some images or videos to insert.

I just realized, that in WordPress at any rate, the box can easily be enlarged.

Click Settings -- over at the far right side of the Dashboard.  Then click Writing.

The first item is Size of the post box.  The default setting is 20 lines.  I increased mine to 60 lines .... and it sure feels better now!  :-)

Thanks, Cheryl, I do two outside blogs on WP and I did not notice that feature... TMaybe that will keep me from having to go back and editing the size of the pictures... Thanks...

Fernando:  WordPress isn't part of Active Rain.  It's blogging software that many members do use to maintain their other individual blogs "outside" of Active Rain.

My tutorial site http://www.queenofkludge.com runs on WordPress.

Use the Active Rain search menu up in the menu bar, and search for posts about WordPress, and you won't be lost for long.  :-)

I too never saw that but I have been able to enlarge the box by dragging the bottom right hand corner of the box.

Cheryl, thanks, I have to start using wordpress, I think it should be a lot easier than html and formats better than wysiwyg. thanks for the reminder.

Kinda sorta related: On my AR blog, my wysiwyg editor is tiny, but my html is about the size of this comment box. I can't figure out how to enlarge the AR wysiwiyg. After my bad experience posting directly to AR, I now write in WP and copy and paste into the AR html, because links don't transfer well otherwise, but, I then like to do my final edits in wysiwyg. It's nearly impossible, and images cannot be seen at all.

Am I the only one who is having problems with that? And is there some way to change it?

@Teri:  Hmmm.  Just for fun, did you try logging out, exiting the browser, then restarting and logging in again?  Firefox?  Or IE?  I had the teeny tiny html post box appear one time, but logging out and restarting made it go away.

I just measured mine, and in both FF and IE it is 658 pixels wide, by 414 pixels in height.  I don't think there's a tool to change it.

I just posted again, and I have an image! w00t, that's 2 in a row. Don't tell anyone, 'kay? ;-)

More details:

I draft in WP, then copy and paste into AR html, "save/publish" in AR, then switch to wysiwyg in AR to do my final draft. It's the switching over that gives me the tiny box. you are right- if I log out or move off the page, then come back to wysiwyg, it's big. weird. wonky. But. No. Rants. From. Me. ;-D
