The Figueroa Street Business District could become a "Living Backlot" ®   Read Robert Mendel's proposal.  Mendel proposes that creating a an organized, film-friendly corridor along North Figueroa would stimulate tourism to the area, create business for the local shop owners, and begin generating funds necessary to restore the building facades along the corridor.

Cool stuff Cheryl...  Austin has a good bit of TV and movie filming here from time to time as well.  Not far from here is where the old house used in "Second Hand Lions" is located.  I pass by that regularly on my way to a ranch listing that I have.  Amazing to see how it physically sits about 100 yards from a four lane highway, but it is never seen in the film!

Cheryl, I have run into filming a few times and just stood there facinated!  I love to watch the actors, filming and directors--it's so interesting!  I'd get some starbucks and be sitting nearby when I could :)

@Carole, I think the actual process of filming ... how the lighting is set up, the sound equipment, the special effects, the "staging"  :-) ... is amazing .... sometimes it is more interesting the the final film itself.  :-)
