After burning a feed for your Localism community, you might want to display that feed on a WordPress blog.
(Note: If you are publishing the same information on both blogs, you probably don't want to do it, but if your WordPress blog covers other material, go for it!)
Most WordPress Themes are widgetized, and if yours is, this is all you need to do:
At your WordPress Dashboard, go to Design - Widgets

In the Available Widgets list, click Add, beside the RSS item:

An RSS widget box will appear in the Current Widgerts panel. Before you do anything else, click Save Changes, then click Edit. (If you don't click Save Changes, the little box might vanish when you click Edit)

Open FeedBurner in a new tab or window. Go to the Edit Feed Details screen to obtain the FEDD ADDRESS of your feed

Back in WordPress, enter the FeedBurner address for your newly created Localism feed. You'll need to type in the http://feeds.feedburner.com part, then you can copy and paste the rest of the feed url.

The number of items to display, and whether or not to display content, is your choice based on the overall look of your WordPress blog. Try different ways, and see what you like best.
Here is how the finished feed shows up on the WordPress blog. Each article title is a live link back to the article on Localism :

Cher, very cool tutorial. Thank you for sharing! Enjoy your day, sweetie. Love, C. :-)
This is why I subscribe to you. I know I knew this but I didn't utilize it like I should and I owe it to you for keeping me on my toes.
I really enjoy all your tutorials and I learn something everytime I read your blogs. You are such a peach.
Can you do regional feed, like Pacific Northwest?

Goerge, You can create a feed if it has its own URL, for axample you could do State of Washington here http://localism.com/wa or Seattle http://localism.com/wa/seattle but, you can't merge separate URLs into one feed, at least not at Feedburner.
You might play around with Yahoo Pipes http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/ -- that's a pretty easy to use feed aggregator...... in fact, maybe I'll try that myself later....
Cheryl, new at this feed business but your tutorial is easy to follow - it worked :)
thanks - now I'll be reading up on feeds :)
Cheryl, I've just joined the Wordpress Blog group and this is the first post I've read and I've already learned something cool. Thank you for sharing.
Deb, You're Welcome.
should I???? looking for old posts for a new member about something else WordPress related.
Could I do the same with a feed from my AR outside blogs?
I did.
I am pretty happy with it. I don't blog hyperlocal on my WordPress blog no reason I can't use it to syndicate my hyperlocal content. Anyone not interested in hyperlocal RE content doesn't need to read more.
