Random thoughts on art, technology, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate: Well, this week will be interesting

Well, this week will be interesting

And the reason it will be so interesting is that the DSL went down at my home on Thursday .... it's still down.... and instead of dealing with the insanely annoying offshore tech support of my current provider, I decided to ditch it and  try one of those cable/phone/internet bundled together deals from Time Warner.  And I know TW doesn't have the greatest reputation either......

First available date for installation next Saturday 10/25.

So a whole week without an internet connection at home will be very interesting.

So will a new adventure with TW.

I had DLS a couple of years ago and switche to cable internet.  Cable is much faster than DSL and I'll bet you'll be much happier.

Doesn't Verizon have FiOS (fiber optic) out there yet?  I thought LA, CA was the beginning of all things cutting edge. Forget TW.  Go to fiber.

You have my sympathy!  I have multiple back up systems because our cable is so unreliable. Shame it's a monopoly. . . .

One of the reasons I bought an air card so when the cable is down I have options.

Hey Cheryl J: I think I'd go into withdrawal if I had to go without my Internet connection for a whole week!

Hi CJ, I have the cable you are referring to and it is OK but I am looking forward to upgrading when something better is available in my area.

You can always go to the library and use their computers. You might even meet someone who could use your help to buy or sell real estate.

I feel for you, when we (home) were on dial up I use to run to town and work on grandma computer.  now we have satellite something or other so I am good as long as we don't lose power (back up generator in place for the winter)  it is always something isn't it?  cw

That's frightening...I don't know if I could handle that.  You have my prayers and condolances...Too bad there isn't a 12 step program for internet withdrawl.

Hey Cheryl J, Ouch, that does not sound like fun. I would probably get a little crazy, best of luck with TW. God bless,

Ken ... I don't think Verizon has TV service in the contract??

All these years I have just used rabbit ears on my home TVs.  Since I have cable with a bazillion channels at the office, I do most of my TV watching while at the office.  But since the nation is going Digi-TV in Feb, I figured it was time to bring my home into the 21st century....

OK, Right now I'm on a wireless connection on a small laptop.  I think it was the DSL moden itself that went out.

CJ,

Tomorrow is the big day!  It's been a whole week, but now you'll be "back in the saddle again!"  There I go, singing in the early dawn.  Next thing you know, people will be throwing pots and pans.  LOL

Mike, yes, tomorrow is the big day.  And ..... I'm getting up early to actually clean house a little (what a concept!!!) before the installer arrives :-)

I'll be back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin' to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again

I went 10 days without an internet connection a couple years ago.  I was anxiety ridden during the entire time.  It was Winter, it was raining, and I went stir crazy.
